what kinda attitude do you think saudis should have towards their government? and are they gonna be punished (in the hereafter) for following their scholars fatwas and such?
They should do something about their government’s flagrant disobedience to the Qur’an and Sunnah. The prophet (saas) said that consuming riba is worse than fornication with your own mother. And that is the least severe form of riba. The Saudi Arabian government isn’t doing anything about this whatsoever, the sins are stacking up like mountains on the people for using this haram and riba currency. If someone told you you’re sleeping with your own mother you would be outraged and boiling in anger. That’s basically what is going on with riba currency. That’s the attitude the Saudis should adopt. As for your second question, that is not my position to give an opinion on. But I will inform you what the Qur’an does say about blindly following people. Allah tells us to constantly reflect and think for ourselves in the Qur’an and that on judgement day, we’ll be alone. The Qur’an tells us that on judgement day the weak ones will say to their leaders “We would not be in the hellfire if it wasn’t for you!” and the leaders will say “You followed me, you were free to leave me at any point.” and will blame each other for eternity. This verse doesn’t apply to Muslims, perhaps, but it’s something to think about. Why does Allah give us an example of not blindly following leaders in the Qur’an? Because, well, this religion came to teach us to think for ourselves, derive our own conclusions through the scholars. |
